Qualifications and Skills:
Holds appropriate certification or endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments Proficient in Braille; certified Braillist highly desired Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with classroom teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams Comfortable using and teaching assistive technologies and adaptive equipment Excellent communication and organizational abilities Passion for fostering independence and confidence in students
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments across grade levels, adapting lessons and materials as needed Produce and translate classroom materials into Braille and other accessible formats Assess student progress and update IEPs with measurable goals and objectives Train and support classroom staff in strategies for inclusion and accessibility Work closely with families to develop strategies that support learning and daily living skills Advocate for student needs within the school environment, ensuring equal access to educational resources You will have the chance to create a positive impact by guiding students toward greater autonomy and academic achievement. The contract role offers the flexibility to make a difference while collaborating with a dedicated educational team. Compensation for this position ranges from $30.50 to $50.50.
