About the Role:
Our client, a leader in innovative energy solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Power Systems Engineer to join their distributed team. This role is focused on the design, analysis, and optimization of power systems for various applications, with a particular emphasis on off-grid and microgrid solutions. As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a global team of experts. You will play a key role in developing robust, reliable, and efficient power systems that meet the unique challenges of diverse environments. We are looking for a candidate with a strong theoretical foundation in electrical engineering and practical experience in power system modeling and simulation. This position is ideal for an independent, results-oriented engineer who thrives in a remote-first culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and engineer electrical power systems, including AC and DC distribution, generation, and storage components.
Perform power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit analysis, stability analysis, and harmonic distortion analysis.
Develop and optimize microgrid architectures and control strategies.
Model and simulate power system behavior using industry-standard software (e.g., PSCAD, EMTP-RV, ETAP).
Specify electrical equipment, including generators, inverters, batteries, transformers, and protection devices.
Analyze the performance of existing power systems and recommend improvements for efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to define system requirements and ensure project success.
Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in power systems, renewable energy integration, and energy storage.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for power system issues.
Requirements:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in power system design, analysis, and simulation.
Proficiency in power system simulation software such as PSCAD, EMTP-RV, ETAP, PSS/E, or similar.
Strong understanding of AC/DC power system fundamentals, grid codes, and protection principles.
Experience with renewable energy integration (solar, wind) and energy storage systems (batteries).
Familiarity with microgrid design and operation is highly desirable.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
Proven ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote environment.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
Benefits:
Competitive salary and benefits package.
Fully remote work arrangement providing significant flexibility.
Opportunities to work on cutting-edge power system projects globally.
Access to advanced simulation tools and professional development resources.
