The successful candidate will work directly with sophisticated clients, leading complex financing transactions while helping to expand and shape the firm's growing Debt Finance platform.
The Opportunity:
You will advise borrowers, lenders, private credit funds, family offices and financial institutions on a broad range of domestic and cross-border financing transactions. The role offers significant responsibility, direct client relationships and the opportunity to independently lead sophisticated transactions from inception through closing. The Role:
- You will lead and advise on a broad range of debt finance transactions, including: Private credit transactions
- Bespoke secured lending
- Acquisition finance
- Leveraged finance
- Asset-based lending
- Cash flow lending
- Corporate lending facilities
- Sponsor-backed financings
- Recapitalisations and refinancing transactions
- Cross-border lending transactions
- General corporate finance matters
You will work closely with borrowers, lenders and private credit providers throughout every stage of a transaction, delivering commercially focused advice and practical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading complex debt finance transactions from origination through closing
- Structuring, negotiating and documenting secured and unsecured lending facilities
- Advising on bespoke private credit and direct lending transactions
- Negotiating credit agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements and related finance documentation
- Coordinating multi-jurisdictional transactions and managing transaction teams
- Advising clients on transaction structuring, execution strategy and risk allocation
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted commercial adviser
- Supervising and mentoring junior attorneys
- Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the continued growth of the Finance practice
- Candidate Requirements
- The ideal candidate will possess: Significant experience in debt finance gained at a respected mid-sized or large law firm
- Extensive experience independently leading secured lending and private credit transactions
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across complex finance documentation
- Experience managing sophisticated borrower and lender-side mandates
- Excellent commercial judgement and technical ability
- Strong client relationship management skills
- A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping grow a practice
Qualifications:
- Applicants should have: J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active admission to the New York Bar (or eligibility for admission)
- Senior-level experience in Debt Finance, Leveraged Finance, Banking & Finance or Private Credit
- Experience working with sophisticated financial institutions, private credit funds or corporate borrowers
