Apply for this role →Cte Fisheries Educator We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a CTE Fisheries educator. This full-time position involves teaching and guiding students in the field of fisheries science and management, with a focus on hands-on learning experiences. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering student engagement and promoting sustainable practices in aquatic ecosystems.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers fisheries biology, aquatic ecology, and sustainable management practices. Provide hands-on instruction in laboratory and field settings, including fish identification, sampling techniques, and habitat assessment. Collaborate with local fisheries organizations, agencies, and community partners to enhance student learning and provide real-world experiences. Assess student progress through various evaluation methods, including tests, projects, and practical demonstrations. Organize field trips, workshops, and guest speaker events to enrich the educational experience. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress reports. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with industry trends and educational practices. Advocate for the importance of fisheries and aquatic resources in local and regional contexts. Contribute to the development of program marketing materials and recruitment efforts to attract students to the fisheries program.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science, Aquatic Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Previous teaching or training experience, preferably in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting. Strong knowledge of fisheries management principles, aquatic ecosystems, and relevant regulatory frameworks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Experience with hands-on teaching methods and outdoor education practices. Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for field trips and community events. Passion for environmental stewardship and commitment to promoting sustainable practices in fisheries management.
