Apply for this role →Assistant Steward This position reports to the Head Steward and assists in leading the Club's stewarding team. The assistant steward helps supervise and coordinate the Stewarding team to ensure cleanliness, organization, and efficiency around the Club. This full-time role is very busy! The ability to work weekends, holidays, morning and evening shift as required is critical. Excellent Benefits | Full-time, hourly position | Free Employee meals | From $18.00 an hour | Beautiful, central location | Employee Amenities Duties and Responsibilities Assists in supervising kitchen stewards and non-cooking employees to ensure clean, safe, efficient, and economical food service operations Coordinates daily stewarding operations and assigns employees to workstations including dishwashing, polishing silver, sanitation and cleaning kitchen work areas Conducts inventories of china, silverware, glassware, in all areas of club and maintains inventory spreadsheet reporting shortages as needed Inspects kitchens, workrooms and equipment for cleanliness, organization and compliance with Club standards Reports equipment needs and assists with replacement of equipment as required Oversees the proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals, equipment and management of china, silverware, glassware Assists Head Steward to supervise team in the following: Sweeping and moping kitchen floors and walk-in coolers; Cleaning dish machine and dish area after each meal period; Handling of all china and glassware to minimize breakage Completes and monitors weekly cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules Ensures trash, recycling, boxes, crates and debris are removed and disposed of properly Keeping all kitchen areas clean and ensuring contract cleaning services are performing their services to the appropriate standards Ensures correct storage of all work equipment, cleaning equipment and chemical
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years' experience managing/supervising a team of stewards in a hospitality environment i.e. hotel, country club, resort
- At least 2 years previous experience as a steward in a hospitality environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to operate Club vehicles including stick-shift truck, as required
- Experience training staff in policies and procedures
- Current Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire
- Willing to undertake CPR/AED training and keep certificate current
- Able to spend almost all shift on feet; Possess mobility throughout the Club, including areas that are slippery and wet and have extreme temperatures (both hot and cold)
