Apply for this role →Senior Health Educator - 64035494 This is an independent outreach professional responsible for implementing effective outreach programs or events for the HRSA funded Federal Healthy Start program referred to as the Bellies, Babies, and Beyond (BBB). This position is responsible for promoting and coordinating activities, and initiatives designed to increase awareness and recruitment of program participants. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and conducting health promotion and public health education programs, events, and activities for the Healthy Start Programs to maximize families' health, well-being, and self-sufficiency by providing the necessary knowledge, information, encouragement, linkages, and support. This position works with BBB staff, members of community agencies and organizations to coordinate services and classes (i.e. Parenting, Benefits of Breastfeeding, Car Seat Education, Safe Sleep, and Interconception Care) beneficial to BBB participants and the residents of Orange County. Develop and execute an action plan outlining effort relating to outreach and community engagement activities including identifying specific relationships that will be nurtured, activities to be executed, goal, objectives, and timelines. Plans, manages, coordinates, participates and facilitates health promotion and public health education activities, including but not limited to parenting, car seat safety education, benefits of breastfeeding, safe sleep and interconceptual care. Designs and promote health education media materials, brochures and displays for health fairs, seminars, conferences, baby showers, electronic communication/newsletter, and other items. Provides health care information and serves as a resource to other community agencies and professional groups. Work with local schools and/or agencies with teen parent programs by providing health promotion and health education. Collaborates with other BBB team members on the development and delivery of health promotion and public health education services to the community. Assist BBB team members in creating and reviewing health promotion and education activities for participants. Documents all client encounters and contracts made. Maintains sign-in logs, surveys, and report statistical outcomes. Develops and maintains professional relationships with Safe Kids Coalition, Early Learning Coalition, Childbirth Educators, and other community agencies and organizations. Coordinates BBB education classes in English and Spanish. Acts as liaison between instructors, site points of contact, and care coordinators. Coordinate locations for classes, assists in the development of memorandum of agreements and publishes/update schedules for classes. Meets with instructors on a yearly basis and as needed to provide updates, service delivery guidance, and assistance. Reviews and compiles health promotion and public health education materials developed for use in training programs. Maintains health promotion and public health education library and teaching equipment. Performs a range of associated administrative functions, as appropriate, such as assisting with front desk phones, preparing client information packets, administrative and programmatic documents, reports, and correspondence, as required. Performs related work as required. Knowledge of community resources and social services programs available to pregnant mother and infants. Knowledge of fetus, infant and child development. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication; principles and practices of health education; methods of data collection; basic computer and keyboarding skills. Knowledge of WINDOWS, MS OUTLOOK, Internet Explorer, and Excel. Skill in operating a personal computer and Ability to work independently and exercise good professional judgment. Ability to coordinate a team approach to the rehabilitation process. Ability to demonstrate and exhibit respect for and sensitivity to the needs and rights of others, including those differing cultural, language racial, sexual, or ethnic identities. collect and analyze data; to communicate effectively; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to establish trusting relationships and work effectively with community partners; actively listen to others; communicate effectively. Possess at minimum a high school diploma/GED with one year of verifiable public health/maternal child health or community development experience. One-year experience in conducting community outreach/educational classes. One-year experience preparing and conducting public or community health presentations. The incumbent will have to travel to complete the job duties and responsibilities of this position. Must currently have a valid Florida Driver's license OR a valid driver's license from another state (will be required to get a FL driver license within 30 days of hire) AND to have access to a personal vehicle in the absence of a county vehicle. Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency? This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Emergency duties may also include in-state and/or out-of-state deployment. This position requires daily in-office or field work. You must be willing to physically come in the office daily and perform field work. Must be fluent in speaking Spanish and communicating both verbally and written in proper English. This position requires current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The Department of Health is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship.
