The Director of the Education Advising and Assessment Center (EAAC)is a Title III Activity Director and consequently, is responsiblefor carrying out the approved plan of operation and spending planfor the EAAC and for achieving the objectives of the Center. Morespecifically, the director will provide leadership and direction indeveloping long-range goals and plans for the EAAC to includeidentifying education students, management, and recommendation oftechnology and evaluation of software that will be used in thecenter. The Director will prepare teacher education candidates andothers seeking initial certification and develop strategies thatwill improve students’ ability to have a passing score onstandardized exams. In addition to supervising and guiding the educational supportstaff, the EAAC Director must direct, manage, guide and monitor theactivities of the center. Maintaining coordination andcollaboration with the Education faculty is paramount and fosteringan atmosphere of teamwork with regard to student achievement iscritical. Data collection and maintenance of data files is ofutmost importance to accreditation of the department and to displayto all stakeholders that teachers are being prepared in a qualityprogram. The EAAC Director and educational support staff mustmotivate students to prepare for licensure. This position reportsto the Chair of the Department of Education.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Education or related field, teaching or School Counseling Certificate/License Endorsement in PK-12 schools and three years or more of teaching experience Proficient in Microsoft Office
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Comply with applicable University policies, federal statues, regulations, and guidelines regarding Title III projects. Ensure that expenditures are allocable, reasonable, andallowable. Administer, supervise, and closely monitor the progress of the Center and Title III Activity. Diligently work to accomplish the objectives of the Center or Title III Activity. Prepare for and be available for external evaluations andaudits by maintaining proper record keeping and recordretention. Ensure that all Title III equipment and purchases arelabeled. Develop, motivate, and retain staff through the development ofgrowth plans, coaching, mentoring, teamwork, mutual respect, andmaintenance of the highest level of professionalism. Ensures the Center’s schedule is maintained. Identifies and secures new resources to sustain and expand theEAAC Center activities and initiatives. Approve, coordinate, and oversee projects and manage the datamanagement system of the EAAC Center. Assists in the data collection, organization, aggregation ofdata needed for the Department of Education to include periodicreports such as the Virginia Department of Education Biennial Report, Titles II and III Annual Performance Reports, and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)Program Reviews. Prepare and submit accurate and timely Time and Effortreports. Identify the need for and order updated materials and suppliesto maintain and adequately support inventory that reflect revisedor updated testing resources. Develop monthly assessments. Create and implement marketing and public relations strategy, ensuring the Center’s mission and accomplishments are consistentlypresented in a strong, positive image to relevantstakeholders. Supervise Education Advising & Assessment Center supportstaff; conduct staff meetings, monitor, review, and evaluate centerservices and activities monthly. Provide individualized academic support guidance and tutoring; conduct workshops on such topics as study skills, time management, test-taking, and college adjustment. Organize and maintain paper and electronic files on all studentrecords; administer diagnostics test and reviews and counselstudents about the results and develop remediation plans with thestudents. Coordinate early intervention by serving as the point personfor addressing academic issues affecting student success; coordinate responses to flagged students with academicdeficiencies. Develop communications including social media and otherelectronic media that positively impacts student success. Work with faculty to identify and refer high risk students tothe EAAC Center; work with faculty to assist with the coordination, scheduling, outreach, and promotion of the Center’steaching/learning offerings; maintain coordination andcollaborations with to develop intervention strategies that promotestudent success. Create monthly spreadsheets; compose correspondence; managedatabases; and create presentations, prepare statistical reports, and answer the telephone and documents using desktop publishingsoftware and digital graphics. Purchase supplies, manage areas such as files, bookcases, andretrieve data from various sources. The EAAC Director supports all facets of the Department of Education, including undergraduate and graduate students seeking alicense to teach or aiming to become certified support personnel ineducation. The EAAC Director supports education faculty inproviding support services to students that professors recommendwho need assistance to pass licensure examinations and ultimatelyperform better in the classroom. Salary based on qualifications $66,000
