Smith Hughes also offers complete Mobile Boiler Rooms to support clients during system failures, unexpected outages, facility expansions, or project-specific increases in steam usage, with services available 24/7 to meet both short-term and long-term needs.
Role Description:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, on-site role based in Cincinnati, OH, responsible for overseeing all financial operations and strategy for Smith Hughes. This role includes leading financial planning and budgeting processes, managing cash flow, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and statutory compliance. The CFO will oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, provide insights to support executive decision-making, and guide long-term financial strategy aligned with business growth objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include partnering with leadership on operational and investment decisions, managing banking and lender relationships, implementing financial controls and risk management practices, and leading and developing the finance and accounting team. The CFO will also contribute to process improvements, cost optimization initiatives, and strategic projects supporting the company’s steam power and boiler services business.
Qualifications:
Strong finance and financial planning skills, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy.
Proficiency in financial statements and financial reporting, with the ability to ensure accuracy, compliance, and clarity for internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated analytical skills for interpreting financial data, assessing performance, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Extensive experience in corporate finance leadership, preferably within industrial services, manufacturing, or related sectors.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPA, CMA) is highly beneficial.
Proven track record of leading finance and accounting teams, implementing internal controls, and managing risk.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and operational teams.
Experience with ERP and financial management systems, as well as familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
