Adult Education Instructor

Qualifications: Certified teachers (preferred)

Special Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of adult basic education content areas:

• GEDReasoning Through Language Arts
• ScienceSocial Studies
• Mathematical Reasoning and/or English literacy
• Ability to integrate instructional technology into programs of study
• Record of good attendance and punctuality
• Proficiency level with standard functions of electronic applications such as Microsoft Office applications and Google suite
• Required Teaching experience with adult education learners:
• Experience in effectively designing courses and lesson plans to meet the adult education learners' literacy needs

Job Description: Provide instruction and data coaching for Adult GED students.

Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for designing adult education courses and corresponding syllabus. Responsible for the implementation of course instruction. Register, orientate, determine course level entry, and evaluate the adult education learners progress regularly to ensure adult learners complete the course successfully. Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning by utilizing a variety of instructional methods and techniques. Responsible for all course materials and classroom equipment. Collect and maintain accurate data on adult learners' education plans. Submit time sheets, reports and course data in a timely manner. Establish positive rapport, effectively communicate, and work cooperatively with adult education learners, staff, and general public. Attend course planning meetings and in-service training as recommended by the Adult Education Facilitator and/or the Director of Community Education. Function within the policies and administrative procedures of the Southwest Independent School District. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Part-time, evenings and daytime hours available on school days only

Salary: $25.00 per hour
