Description:
American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for an inpatient psychiatric unit requiring 2+ years of BH RN experience and a WI or compact license. Details Inpatient Behavioral Health unit at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital Night shift schedule with 8 and 12-hour shifts, including 1500-2330, 1900-0730, and 2300-0730 Patient ratio of 1:4Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed Floating required as needed Role focuses on patient care rather than medication distribution Epic EMR used
Requirements:
- Active WI or compact RN license requiredBLS certification required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health RN experience required within the last 3 years
- Previous charge nurse experience required
Epic charting experience required, preferably within the past 12 monthsCPI certification preferredExperience with psychiatric medications including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, and mood stabilizer administration preferredExperience starting and maintaining IVs preferredExperience caring for patients with anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, personality disorders, self-injurious behavior, and substance use disorders
Skilled in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavior management techniques
Experience with seclusion protocols and physical hold protocols preferredMust pass a cardiac rhythm interpretation exam prior to start with strict passing criteria
Additional Information:
- Provide direct care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit
- Collaborate with the care team on crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavior management
- Experience in teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I settings preferredMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- First-time travelers not considered for this role
