Onyx is building the market for people who enjoy being right. Our consumer platform lets people take positions on what happens next across sports, prediction markets, crypto, financial markets, politics, culture, and real-world events. More than one million users have already found Onyx, driving over $2 billion in monthly notional volume across our social sports platform. Now, we’re bringing that same energy into regulated financial markets through Onyx Predictions, a CFTC-registered introducing broker and NFA member. In June 2026, we raised a $20 million Series A led by Payward, the parent company of Kraken, valuing Onyx at $220 million less than one year after emerging from beta. Our team comes from Jane Street, Draft Kings, Robinhood, xAI, SIG, HRT, and Harvard. We’re building Onyx in New York with a small team, serious momentum, and no interest in moving slowly. The product is live. The market is growing. The category is still ours to define. The Role. Onyx is expanding its regulated derivatives business, and we’re looking for an FCM Finance Lead to help build and run the financial infrastructure supporting our FCM entity. You’ll work closely with finance, legal, and executive leadership on regulatory capital, customer-funds protection, financial reporting, and examination readiness. You’ll own day-to-day responsibilities across net capital monitoring, segregation calculations, regulatory filings, and entity-level accounting. As the finance function develops, you’ll establish processes, strengthen controls, and help shape how it operates as Onyx scales. We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in regulated finance, accounting, or financial examination work. Your experience may come from a broker-dealer, an FCM, or a financial examiner role at NFA, CFTC, or FINRA. Direct FCM experience is valuable, but we’re also open to candidates with relevant broker-dealer finance or examination experience. This is a hands-on role based in our NoHo, Manhattan office. What You’ll Own: Calculate and monitor adjusted net capital, applicable capital requirements, regulatory haircuts, early-warning thresholds, and internal management buffers. Prepare daily segregation and residual-interest calculations, track customer funds on deposit, and support undermargined customer reporting. Build financial controls and reporting processes that support compliance with CFTC and NFA requirements. Prepare and submit required regulatory filings, including Form 1-FR-FCM. Manage the FCM’s monthly close, standalone financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting accounting documentation. Support annual audits and regulatory examinations, coordinate examiner responses, and track findings through remediation. Prepare reporting for leadership on capital adequacy, liquidity, customer-funds protection, and emerging financial or control issues. Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and the broader Onyx finance team on entity-level accounting and regulatory matters. Establish and maintain policies, procedures, workpapers, and reporting infrastructure for the FCM finance function.
What We’re Looking For: 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, audit, regulatory reporting, or financial examinations. Relevant experience within a broker-dealer or FCM, or as a financial examiner at NFA, CFTC, or FINRA. CPA licensure, Series 27 registration, and/or Series 3 registration. Experience in a role such as FINOP, Controller, Audit Manager, Financial Examiner, Regulatory Reporting professional, or Treasurer. Practical experience with regulatory capital, financial controls, regulatory reporting, or examinations of regulated financial entities. Strong accounting and financial statement analysis skills, with experience preparing, reviewing, or examining reconciliations and supporting workpapers. Ability to apply regulatory requirements to day-to-day financial processes and develop expertise in FCM-specific obligations. Strong judgment, attention to detail, and accountability for accurate, timely work. Clear communication skills and the ability to explain financial and regulatory matters to teams outside finance. An interest in building systems and processes while staying close to daily execution. Helpful, but
Not Required: Direct experience preparing or reviewing FCM segregation and residual-interest calculations and Form 1-FR-FCM filings. Familiarity with CFTC financial requirements under Parts 1, 22, and 30, NFA financial requirements, and Win Jammer. Experience supporting FCM audits, NFA examinations, or an FCM registration process. Experience establishing the finance function or reporting infrastructure for a new regulated entity.
Location: This position is based in New York City and requires working in person from our NoHo office.
Compensation: The base salary range is$150,000–$200,000 annually, plus target bonus and equity. Actual compensation will depend on experience and qualifications.
Benefits: Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance. Commuter benefits. Why Onyx? Onyx is for people with conviction. Good ideas can come from anywhere, but the person willing to make the call is expected to follow it through. We value people who are ambitious without ego, intellectually honest, comfortable with uncertainty, and energized by hard problems. We debate openly, decide quickly, and take responsibility for the result. Come build what’s next with us.
