Apply for this role →Instructor for Peace Officer Basic Training – Adult Workforce Development Position: Instructor for Peace Officer Basic Training – Adult Workforce Development Reports To: Commander, Peace Officer Basic Training Application Deadline: Open until position is filled Starting Date: ASAP Qualifications: Successful applicants must have or be able to secure state certification for teaching in public schools at the elementary, junior high, senior high or adult education level; Submit an application for OPOTC certification; Have a high school diploma or GED; Have five (5) years of experience as a full-time law enforcement officer; Have completed a OPOTC approved instructor skills training program; Completed an OPOTC approved instructor-level training or other advanced program for designated topics and recommendation of a current Peace Office Basic Training School Commander; Maintain a current certification; Demonstrate positive human relations and counseling skills and good organizational and communication skills: Pass a BCI/FBI background check.
Responsibilities:
Maintain discipline during training activities; Ensure that required instructor/student ratios are met during the practical portion of skill area training and other topics that require ratios; Ensure that the latest versions of OPOTC lesson plans are utilized; Engage students in lessons; Give due regard to safety considerations during all training activities; Responsible for teaching class for the entire time scheduled for each topic; Maintain student sign-in sheets; Sign each SPO score sheet; Possess a professional decorum at all times; Complete required Public School Works Courses; Communicate with Commander; Other duties as assigned.
Salary:
Placement on the Adult part-time as needed hourly schedule.
