MASTER SCHEDULER / CUSTOMER MATERIALS SCHEDULERAutomotive Manufacturing | West Michigan$70,000-$90,000 | Career Growth Potential OnsiteNot every strong Master Scheduler comes from a traditional production scheduling background. Sometimes the best person is someone who has worked in materials planning, inventory control, supplier scheduling, or customer logistics and understands how materials move through a manufacturing operation. We're working with an established automotive manufacturer in West Michigan looking for someone who can take ownership of customer demand and scheduling requirements while continuing to grow their knowledge of materials and supply chain operations. This is a substantial automotive manufacturing operation with an experienced Materials team. WHY THIS ROLE EXISTSThe company needs someone who understands how customer orders and releases affect material availability, production requirements, inventory, and shipping. When customer demand changes, releases are inaccurate, or packaging isn't available, someone needs to recognize the problem, communicate with the right people, and keep everything moving. That's where this position comes in. This isn't about sitting behind a computer building production schedules all day. It's about understanding customer requirements, recognizing problems early, and coordinating with the people responsible for fulfilling those orders. WHAT YOU'LL OWN • Manage incoming customer demand and EDI releases, ensuring information is accurate and current. • Recognize unusual order patterns, release discrepancies, and potential delivery problems. • Coordinate with Production Scheduling to ensure customer requirements are properly communicated. • Communicate directly with automotive customers regarding releases, shipment concerns, and changing requirements. • Help manage packaging requirements, including customer returnable containers and potential packaging shortages. • Work with Materials, Production, Shipping, and other departments to resolve constraints. • Support inventory accuracy, material availability, and continuous improvement efforts. • Develop a broader understanding of automotive materials operations, with opportunities to take on additional responsibility over time.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
  • Experience in manufacturing materials, inventory control, supply chain, customer scheduling, or a related function.
  • A practical understanding of how customer orders, materials, inventory, and production fit together.
  • Ability to recognize problems, investigate the cause, and communicate solutions.
  • Comfortable dealing directly with customers and holding them accountable when necessary.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and willingness to take ownership.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems; Plex experience is a plus.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • A college degree in Supply Chain or a related field is desirable.
  • Ideally 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing materials, inventory control, customer scheduling, or related supply chain functions. Strong earlier-career candidates with the right foundation will also be considered.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to learn, improve, and build their career.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:
  • Typical base salary of $70,000–$90,000, with flexibility depending on experience and qualifications.
  • 3 weeks of PTO starting at hire.
  • 14 paid holidays.
  • Benefits beginning on your first day.
  • 6% company 401(k) match with no vesting period.
  • Phone stipend.
  • Established automotive manufacturing environment with experienced employees throughout the organization.
  • Opportunity to develop broader skills in materials management, customer logistics, and manufacturing operations.
  • Potential longer-term advancement into materials leadership or other areas of the business. WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
  • Not a traditional production scheduling position where you're primarily building machine schedules.
  • Not simply entering customer orders into an ERP system.
  • Not a position where every problem can be resolved without speaking directly to customers.
  • Not a remote or hybrid opportunity. You don't necessarily need to have held the title of Master Scheduler. If you've built a strong foundation in manufacturing materials or supply chain and are interested in taking on more responsibility, I'd be happy to discuss the opportunity confidentially.
