Tennessee Valley Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced veterinary technician/veterinary assistant to join our team!
At Tennessee Valley Veterinary Clinic, our mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for our patients and an exceptional level of service for the owners who love them. We are a general practice that provides care to dogs and cats.
Our veterinary technicians play an essential role in our success by supporting doctors in the hospital, caring for patients, and interacting closely with clients in regards to patient care. Our ideal candidate must have previous experience as a veterinary technician/assistant.
Full-time position available.
Responsibilities:
Broad knowledge of basic small animal medicine (pharmacology, proper restraint/handling, venipuncture, laboratory testing) Opportunities for growth and learning with large animal service.
Triage – identify emergencies and illnesses
Perform various treatments on an in-house and outpatient basis including but not limited to placing feeding tubes, intravenous catheter placement and more
Knowledge of medical terminology, medication and disease processes
Administer oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous medications
Position and capture digital radiographs
Computer skills
Effective verbal and written communication with both clients and team members
Anesthesia: induction, monitoring, troubleshooting and recovery
Attention to detail and calm demeanor
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Low stress handling of patients
Advocate for patients
Walk and stand for at least 10 minutes at a time, multiple times per hour.
Lift and/or carry up to 50 poundsfrom floor to waist level or higher, several times a day.
Lift objects up to 50 pounds to a height of 1 meter or higherand carry them up to 2 meters without assistance.
Handle, position, and restrain live animals.
Work in a structured environmentwith time constraints, make rapid decisions, and ability to forward think.
Qualifications:
Previous veterinary practice experience required
CVT or equivalent preferred
Ability to stay calm and efficient during times of high tension
Ability to work well as part of a team
Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task
