Position Summary: The Pediatric Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive healthcare services to infants, children, and adolescents under the supervision of a licensed physician. This role includes diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, promoting preventive care, and supporting families in managing pediatric health conditions. The PA works in a collaborative, patient-centered environment focused on delivering high-quality pediatric care.
Key Responsibilities: Clinical Care Perform age-appropriate patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations Diagnose and treat acute and chronic pediatric conditions Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (lab work, imaging, screenings)Prescribe medications in accordance with state regulations Preventive & Developmental Care Conduct well-child visits and routine health screenings Monitor growth and developmental milestones Administer immunizations following recommended schedules Provide anticipatory guidance on nutrition, safety, and developmental health Family & Patient Education Educate parents and caregivers on diagnosis, treatment plans, and home care Offer guidance on pediatric health topics such as feeding, sleep, behavior, and illness prevention Support families in managing chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, ADHD) Care Coordination Collaborate with pediatricians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals Refer patients to specialists as needed Participate in care planning and follow-up management Administrative & Documentation Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the EMR system Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and safety protocols Participate in quality improvement initiatives Qualifications Required Master s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program Current NCCPA certification Active state PA license (or eligibility to obtain)Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred Knowledge of pediatric medicine, development, and preventive care Preferred 1 3 years of experience in pediatrics or family medicine Experience in outpatient pediatric clinic or pediatric hospital setting Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
