Location: Hampton Roads, VA
Pay:
$20–$29/hour, based on experience, qualifications, and assignment Tidewater Staffing is hiring Shipyard Riggersfor opportunities throughout the Hampton Roads maritime industry.
We are seeking candidates with experience ranging frombasic rigging and material movement to advanced shipboard lifting, equipment positioning, and load handling. Candidates with previous shipyard, maritime, industrial, construction, or heavy-equipment rigging experience are encouraged to apply.
Job Duties:
Assist with or perform the safe movement, lifting, positioning, and securing of equipment, materials, and ship components.
Select and use appropriate rigging equipment, includingslings, shackles, chain falls, come-alongs, wire rope, hoists, and related gear.
Inspect rigging equipment before use and identify damaged or unsafe components.
Attach and secure loads using appropriate rigging methods.
Use standard hand signals and maintain clear communication during lifting and material-movement operations.
Assist with positioning machinery, structural components, piping, equipment, and other loads aboard vessels and throughout shipyard facilities.
Work with crane operators and other trades during lifting and positioning operations.
Maintain awareness of load weight, balance, travel path, surrounding personnel, and potential hazards.
Follow applicable shipyard safety procedures, lift plans, PPE requirements, and customer requirements.
Maintain clean and organized work areas and properly store rigging equipment.
Qualifications:
Previousshipyard, marine, industrial, construction, or heavy-equipment rigging experiencepreferred.
Knowledge of common rigging equipment and safe load-handling practices.
Experience withslings, shackles, chain falls, come-alongs, hoists, wire rope, and related rigging equipmentis preferred.
Ability to understand and follow lifting instructions, hand signals, and safety procedures.
Comfortable performingactive, hands-on work in shipyard and industrial environments.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and move throughout shipboard work areas.
Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and varying environmental conditions as required by assignment.
Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
Ability to meet applicable safety, screening, and worksite-access requirements. Preferred Credentials & Experience
Previousnaval or commercial shipyard rigging experience
Experience supporting crane and heavy-lift operations
OSHA 10 Maritime or other applicable safety training
TWIC
Current or previous DBIDS credential
Applicable rigging, signaling, or qualified-person certifications
