About the Job:
We are seeking a Medical Malpractice Attorney and Personal Injury Defense Attorney with 2–7 years of litigation experience to join our Tampa office. This full-time, in-office position offers the opportunity to defend a diverse caseload of personal injury matters, including medical malpractice, premises liability, automobile liability, and trucking claims. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, including motion practice, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation. This role is well suited for an attorney looking to grow their litigation practice while working alongside an experienced team in a collaborative and supportive environment. Candidates should possess excellent analytical, writing, and advocacy skills, with the ability to independently manage cases while providing exceptional client service.
Requirements:
Manage a diverse caseload of civil defense litigation matters from inception through resolution.
Develop case strategy through comprehensive legal research and analysis.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and expert witnesses.
Represent clients at hearings, inspections, mediations, and trial.
Conduct settlement negotiations and participate in mediation proceedings.
Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and trial strategy.
Stay current on developments in case law, procedural rules, and litigation practices.
Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure effective case management.
Maintain accurate time records and comply with firm and client billing requirements.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active member of The Florida Bar in good standing.
2–7 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense.
Experience handling medical malpractice, premises liability, automobile liability, and/or trucking claims is preferred.
Experience managing cases from inception through trial.
Deposition, mediation, and courtroom experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
Excellent written, oral, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research platforms such as Westlaw or Lexis.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
