Apply for this role →Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a UI/UX Designer 4 (UX Researcher) in Chicago, IL. The work will be done hybrid, with candidates required to be local and available to work onsite as needed, including the ability to return to full-time onsite work if requested. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $77/hr W2 + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary:
The UI/UX Designer 4 will serve as a UX Researcher supporting a cross-functional product team, using human-computer interaction principles and user research best practices to inform concepts, prototypes, testing, and user-interface decisions. This individual will identify opportunities where research and testing can improve the user experience and translate findings into actionable recommendations for product and design teams. The role works closely with designers, engineers, product owners, strategists, management, and other stakeholders to understand user needs and establish a clear UX vision. The successful candidate will document preferred experiences and create visual research artifacts that guide downstream design and development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate user research and translate research and testing findings into actionable, prioritized UI/UX recommendations.
- Clarify user, customer, stakeholder, and business needs and translate insights into compelling interaction and user-experience concepts.
- Partner with designers to define prototype requirements, test concepts, gather feedback, and iterate on solutions.
- Create and maintain UX artifacts including journey maps, storyboards, user flows, research reports, and other visual documentation.
- Document UX strategy, key goals, themes, behaviors, guiding principles, and requirements for downstream UI teams and prioritize research needs based on the product roadmap.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in UX Research with strong knowledge of user-experience research methods and best practices, preferably within a corporate or B2B environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, or another UX-related field; an additional 2–3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
- Strong understanding of UI best practices, UI design, and essential graphic design theory, along with proficiency in UI layout, specification, and prototyping tools.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and synthesize stakeholder and user sentiment and translate research findings into meaningful product and design recommendations.
- Strong adaptive-thinking skills with the ability to respond to changing requirements, independently make decisions, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while producing results independently and collaboratively.
- Outstanding communication, organization, time-management, stakeholder-management, and interpersonal skills, with exceptional data-storytelling ability.
- Portfolio required demonstrating UX research expertise and the ability to clearly articulate research and design processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management experience.
- Experience conducting UX research within a large corporate or B2B product environment.
- Experience partnering closely with product owners, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders on complex technical products or systems.
