Public Policy Economist$35-70/hr Remote Freelance STEMAI is rapidly becoming a tool for policy analysis, economic modeling, and public decision-making — and it needs expert guidance to get things right. We're looking for experienced public policy economists to help evaluate and improve AI-generated content in economics and policy. Your expertise will directly shape how AI systems reason about regulation, welfare programs, fiscal policy, and economic tradeoffs. What You'll Do: Review and evaluate AI-generated public policy questions, explanations, and economic analyses for accuracy and rigor Assess economic reasoning across topics such as regulation, welfare economics, public finance, and program evaluation Identify errors, logical gaps, or misleading conclusions in AI-generated policy content Provide clear, structured written feedback to improve the quality, clarity, and real-world applicability of AI outputs Validate economic scenarios, assumptions, and policy recommendations using your applied expertise Work independently and asynchronously on task-based assignments Who You Are 3+ years of experience working or teaching in public policy, applied economics, or a closely related field Strong command of policy analysis frameworks and economic tradeoff reasoning Able to critically evaluate written economic arguments and identify analytical weaknesses Skilled at providing detailed, constructive written feedback Self-directed and reliable — comfortable working independently without close supervision
Nice to Have: Graduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, or a related discipline Professional experience in government agencies, think tanks, or policy research institutions Familiarity with AI tools, content evaluation workflows, or data annotation platforms
