Enjoy building automation systems that actually make it onto the production floor? We're looking for an Automation Engineer who can turn complex manufacturing challenges into practical, working solutions. From programming controls and designing electrical systems to integrating robotics and vision technology, you'll have the opportunity to put your engineering skills to work on equipment that directly improves how products are made.
Job Summary: We're hiring a hands-on Automation Engineer to develop and improve automated manufacturing processes, machine controls, and testing equipment. You'll work across electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, combining design, programming, and troubleshooting to introduce new processes, support product launches, and reduce manufacturing costs. This is a fully onsite position in Independence, KS, suited for an engineer who enjoys working directly with equipment and seeing projects through implementation.
What You'll Do: Design and develop electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems for manufacturing machinery and automated test equipment. Program, integrate, and troubleshoot automation systems using PLC-based controls, LabVIEW, robotics, and related technologies. Create detailed electrical schematics and technical documentation to support equipment design, installation, and maintenance. Integrate machine vision systems, sensors, and robotic equipment to improve manufacturing accuracy, efficiency, and reliability. Support new process development, product introductions, and cost-reduction initiatives through practical automation improvements. What You'll BringAt least 3 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, controls engineering, or industrial equipment development, with approximately 5 years preferred. Hands-on experience with Beckhoff/TwinCAT or comparable industrial control platforms. Strong ability to create and interpret detailed electrical schematics. Experience with automation technologies such as LabVIEW, Visual Basic, Epson RC+, Keyence or Cognex vision systems, and flow and pressure sensors. Working knowledge of electrical systems, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial machinery. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement solutions in a manufacturing environment. A bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred, although equivalent technical education and relevant experience will be considered. We're looking for someone who brings practical experience and can contribute independently rather than someone seeking their first engineering position. We offer a base salary of $85,000–$100,000, depending on experience and technical capabilities. You'll have the opportunity to work on diverse automation projects, expand your expertise across controls and robotics, and contribute directly to manufacturing improvements. If you enjoy solving challenging automation problems and want to see your ideas come to life on the production floor, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and help us build smarter manufacturing systems.
