You'll be working with a small group – two students in a structured learning setting and eight students receiving direct instructional minutes – ensuring individualized attention and tailored teaching strategies. You'll collaborate with a dedicated paraeducator who delivers inclusion support, creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Texas Special Education Teacher certification required
- Experience or strong interest in self-contained classrooms at the elementary level (K-3)
- Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to adapt lessons for various learning needs
- Comfortable developing and implementing structured learning plans
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in working with paraprofessionals and other staff
- Ability to maintain a caring, patient, and adaptive attitude under diverse classroom circumstances
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver instruction for a combination of structured learning and direct instruction students
- Prepare and implement IEPs tailored to each student's unique needs
- Collaborate with the para to coordinate inclusion minutes and classroom activities
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom community
- Track progress, communicate with families, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Create an engaging and safe academic environment driven by student success
