Your Role:
As a Physical Education Teacher (K5-8), you will be responsible for developing and implementing a high-quality, energetic, and comprehensive physical education program appropriate for each grade level. You will provide instruction aligned with Wisconsin State Academic Standards and Wisconsin State Physical Education Standards while helping students develop physical skills, knowledge, healthy habits, teamwork, and an understanding of the importance of physical health and wellness. You will create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment that encourages students of all ability levels to participate in physical activity and develop lifelong healthy behaviors.
What You'll Do:
Develop and implement a grade-level appropriate Physical Education curriculum aligned with Wisconsin State Academic Standards. Develop weekly lesson plans aligned with Wisconsin State Physical Education Standards and submit plans as directed by the administration. Administer formal and informal assessments to evaluate student growth in physical education skills and knowledge. Provide engaging, energetic, and developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in grades K5-8.Establish strong relationships with students and maintain a secure, safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment. Implement effective classroom and activity management strategies to promote student safety, participation, and positive behavior. Promote the importance of physical health, physical activity, fitness, and healthy lifestyle choices. Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents, colleagues, administrators, and other school personnel regarding student needs and progress. Attend required meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities. Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and school policies. Contribute as a collaborative and supportive team member. Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in physical education or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license in the applicable area and/or range, or ability to obtain a License with Stipulation (Emergency License).Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong classroom and activity management skills. A positive, energetic, and welcoming personality with a genuine enjoyment of working with students and others. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Excellent communication and documentation skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as needed based on program needs. Must successfully pass all required background checks.
Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in classroom, gymnasium, outdoor, and school environments.
