Their main duties will be rearing fly strains, which will involve cleaning cages, preparing diet, setting cages, collecting eggs and setting larval cultures, autoclaving waste, obtaining supplies, checking fly traps and working on other tasks to support research of the senior staff working on the project. The person will maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and follow all lab safety requirements and requirements for 20-containment of genetically modified insects.
