Dishwasher/WasherThis role supports daily food service operations in a busy kitchen and cafeteria setting on a college campus. You prepare and serve food, maintain a clean and safe work area, and provide friendly customer service to students, faculty, and staff. You work as part of a large, collaborative team to ensure high-quality meals, efficient service, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities: Perform food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables. Weigh and measure designated ingredients according to recipes and production standards. Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stoves, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.
Essential Skills: Ability to lift more than 20 pounds safely and repeatedly during a shift. Ability to stand on your feet for the entire shift in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience in foodservice, such as working in a kitchen, cafeteria, or similar environment.

The team includes more than 200 employees, with many part-time student workers and a core group of approximately 40 full-time staff. The culture emphasizes teamwork and flexibility, with staff helping one another when some stations are busier than others. The environment is fast-paced and active, requiring extended periods of standing and frequent lifting and carrying of food items and equipment. Schedules are highly flexible, with both full-time and part-time options and shift times available throughout the day. The dress code includes slip-resistant shoes, long pants, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt, avoiding overly loose clothing to support safety and professionalism.
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Crosse, WI.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $17.55 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
