Clinical Lab Scientist III Alameda Health System Oakland, California, United States About this position Clinical Lab Scientist IIISUMMARY:Under the direction, to act as a lead worker in a licensed clinical laboratory unit; to perform the more complex laboratory tests; and to do related work as required. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification; however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification. Assigns and reviews the work of a clinical laboratory unit; assists in training employees; provides input to management staff on performance evaluations and disciplinary matters; answers difficult questions and solves the more complex problems of a laboratory unit; maintains proper inventory levels of all reagents and supplies for a unit and reorders when necessary. Performs a variety of microbiological, hematological, chemical, parasitological, mycological and serological tests using manual/automated laboratory instruments. Maintains records and documentation on quality control procedures; performs preventative maintenance on each instrument to check for consequence of error; troubleshoots laboratory operations. Interfaces with laboratory management to provide on-going dialogue of changes, problems, and trends; assists management staff in planning and developing activities and may perform special projects as assigned.
