The Mail Operations Clerk Supervisor position will be an integral part of these effortsoverseeing mail, shipping, delivery, and inventory operations that support departments and employees across the City. What you will typically be responsible for: Coordinating daily incoming and outgoing mail, packages, shipments, and interoffice mail operations. Monitoring postage usage and expenses, maintaining postage meter funds, and preparing related records and reports. Operating and maintaining postage meters, scales, and other mail processing and business equipment. Maintaining inventory of mailroom supplies and ordering materials as needed. Coordinating courier and delivery services for City departments and operating a City vehicle for mail and package pickup and delivery. Developing, updating, and implementing administrative procedures to improve mail operations and service delivery. Ensuring mail operations comply with applicable USPS requirements, City procedures, and safe work practices. Supervising, training, and evaluating Mail Operations Clerk staff. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. College coursework is desirable.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience performing mail room operations, inventory control, or administrative duties, including one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. License or Certificate / Other Requirements: Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience identifying operational improvements and developing or updating procedures to improve efficiency, customer service, safety, or accuracy. Knowledge of USPS regulations, mailing requirements, postal rates, and special mailing services. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar word processing, spreadsheet, and business software applications.
Supplemental Information: This is an at-will position, exempt from the provisions of the City of Oakland Civil Service Rules, per Charter Section 902f. Exempt Limited Duration Employee (ELDE): This is an at-will position, exempt from the provisions of the City of Oakland Civil Service Rules (per Charter Section 902f).
