Apply for this role →Job Coach Southwest Ohio Council of Governments is seeking a dependable, responsible, and caring individual to support students with disabilities at job sites while also serving as a certified van driver. This role involves mentoring students, providing job site assistance, and ensuring safe transportation. Responsibilities include providing on-site coaching, collaborating with employers and educators, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring timely student transportation. The candidate must be adaptable to different job site requirements, follow all transportation and safety regulations, and be willing to obtain van driver certification if not already certified.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Valid Ohio driver's license Effective communication skills in English Access to own motor vehicle Ohio educational aide certificate Ability to physically manage students with disabilities Ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted Ability to maneuver stairs unassisted Pass criminal background check Be physically qualified as determined by an annual physical examination/drug test General duties involve helping individuals experiencing developmental disabilities acquire work maturity skills necessary to obtain employment and independently maintain employment in the community. Job coaches provide ongoing support to participants working in various employment sites within the community. Essential functions include consistently modeling appropriate work maturity skills, upholding standards of work contract, providing services to participants without discrimination, monitoring consumer's work performance, ensuring safety is always maintained in the work environment, maintaining and modeling positive, professional working relationships, accepting and integrating supervision, providing support to participants regardless of location, operating equipment, participating in emergency preparedness drills, using positive guidance techniques, assisting students with handicap devices and equipment, performing delegated nursing duties, maintaining required certificates, demonstrating regular and predictable attendance, attending appropriate workshops and professional meetings, performing duties in conformity to the adopted Board Policy, displaying professional appearance, and performing other duties assigned by supervisor. Other duties and responsibilities include serving as a role model for participants, helping install in participants and staff the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values, remaining free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace, observing Risk Reduction Safety Rules and Regulations, and serving in the capacity of a van driver for student community outings, field experiences, or instructional activities.
