Key Responsibilities:
The Job Captain is a full-time, hybrid role with two to three days a week in our Valhalla office, location. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the development of architectural projects from DD to CA. The role collaborates with architects, designers, consultants, and contractors to address technical issues, review submittals, and support construction administration activities. The Job Captain also helps maintain quality standards, monitors code compliance, and supports communication between the project team and clients. Applicants must be comfortable with travel. Lead the day-to-day development of architectural drawing sets from survey and schematic design through permit, bid, and construction documents. Translate design direction, redlines, and project requirements into complete and technically accurate plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and diagrams. Research applicable building codes, landlord criteria, accessibility requirements, and agency submission standards as directed by the Project Manager or Architect of Record. Create 3D models, views, and renderings as required to illustrate design concepts, support coordination, and clarify construction details. Perform and document site surveys, field measurements, and existing conditions accurately. Develop and maintain reliable existing-conditions base drawings using available surveys, landlord documents, consultant information, and field verification. Prepare coordinated bid drawing packages and supporting technical information. Provide support throughout the bid process. Review and coordinate RFIs, submittals, samples, and shop drawings for alignment with the architectural documents and design intent. Prepare sketches, supplemental details, and drawing revisions required to resolve construction-phase issues. Maintain organized records of issued documents, revisions, field information, and consultant responses.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency in architectural drafting and detailing, including the ability to produce clear construction documents and coordinate drawing sets. Minimum 3 years of experience with an architectural firm, interior design firm, or similar professional environment. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar architectural software. Working knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and coordination with structural and MEP consultants. Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field. The ideal candidate is highly technical, collaborative, organized, and creative, with a proactive approach and a desire to take initiative.
