University Drive MASS Building 2nd Floor Edinburg, TX 78539 Scope of Job The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry seeks a Psychiatrist for inpatient and outpatient services. In addition, the psychiatrist will participate in scholarly activity, faculty development, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, prepare and provide didactics, and participate in the evaluation of residents and medical students. Faculty are expected to administer and maintain a professional educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competencies, assisting them to reach their individual Milestones, and educating medical students in the practice of Psychiatry. Working within the UT Health RGV clinical mission, this department has outstanding educational and scholarly activities for medical students and a growing Psychiatry program. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students is essential. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
Minimum Qualifications: MD degree with Board Certification in General Psychiatry or board eligible. Must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical License.

Additional Information: UTRGV is a distributed institution. The position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. The position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
