Basic Job Functions: This position includes but is not limited to: • The successful candidate will possess a working knowledge of electrical principles and practical experience as it relates to the electrical maintenance function. • The technician will provide electrical support to the production crews, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and automation systems. • The qualified candidate must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, vacation coverage, and holidays. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements: • Two-year degree, successful completion of electrical trade school, or a minimum of three years industrial experience or military. • Knowledge of automation and networking equipment and processes such as PID/closed loop control systems, networking tools and standards, Variable Frequency Drive experience (ABB, AB), and HMI programming and troubleshooting Detailed Selection Criteria: • Communication Skills - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. • Initiative - Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges. • Problem Solving & Judgement/Decision Making - Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. • Teamwork - Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal. • Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to work at hand. • Dependability-Being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and committed to fulfilling obligations Preferences: • NFPA 70E training and applied experience • Overhead crane knowledge and repair experience • Basis pneumatic and hydraulic system knowledge
