Location: Denver, CO (hybrid onsite)
Pay: $60 - $90/hr (Compensation can vary depending on experience)
General Overview: We are looking for an AI Governance Engineer to help build and operationalize the processes and technical controls needed to support the responsible use of artificial intelligence across the enterprise. This position sits at the intersection of AI, technology risk, security, data, and engineering. The ideal candidate will be able to take established governance requirements and turn them into practical processes, controls, documentation, and technical safeguards that can be incorporated into how AI solutions are developed and used. This is primarily an implementation and operational role. The focus is on putting existing governance standards into practice, improving how those controls are executed, and helping teams adopt AI in a consistent and scalable manner.
Responsibilities: Help implement and continuously improve enterprise processes for governing AI technologies and use cases. Translate governance and risk requirements into practical controls, procedures, templates, workflows, and technical safeguards. Work with engineering and platform teams to incorporate governance requirements into the AI development lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and ongoing operations. Support controls covering areas such as responsible AI, information security, privacy, data management, and technology risk. Help manage operational governance activities including AI use-case intake, risk evaluation, approvals, ongoing monitoring, and periodic reassessment. Build and maintain reporting or monitoring capabilities that provide insight into AI adoption, usage, compliance, risk, and cost. Partner with stakeholders across Security, Privacy, Legal, Architecture, Data, Engineering, and other governance functions. Serve as a resource for business and technical teams navigating established AI governance requirements and approved practices. Maintain governance artifacts, process documentation, audit evidence, standards, and records associated with AI initiatives. Identify opportunities to streamline governance workflows, strengthen controls, improve tooling, and increase adoption as the organization's AI capabilities mature. Help establish repeatable processes that allow AI initiatives to scale without compromising appropriate risk and compliance standards.
Requirements: Professional experience in one or more of the following areas: technology governance, IT risk, cybersecurity, compliance, data governance, or a related discipline. Practical understanding of AI technologies, including generative AI, large language models (LLMs), AI assistants/copilots, and emerging agent-based AI solutions. Experience putting technology policies, governance requirements, controls, or compliance processes into practice. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent technical writing and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Comfortable working across multiple teams and translating governance concepts into actionable requirements.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with enterprise AI or cloud platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure Open AI, Azure AI services, Microsoft 365, Git Hub Copiot, Databricks, or comparable. Exposure to AI application development, automation, APIs, low-code/no-code technologies, or software engineering environments. Familiarity with technology risk frameworks, compliance programs, audit processes, governance monitoring, or control reporting. Experience working in environments where AI solutions require formal intake, risk clarification, approval, monitoring, or ongoing oversight.#LI-BL1
