The Cytotechnologist will independently perform all levels of high complexity testing. The cytotechnologist works effectively with physician members of staff to accurately provide diagnostic results and works with minimal supervision. This role is responsible for the evaluation and diagnosis of non-GYN cases for pathology review, independent evaluation and diagnosis of GYN cases. Performs Rapid On-Site evaluations for FNA procedures including EBUS and EUS procedures, Robotic assisted Endoscopic procedures, CT guided and US Guided procedures. Exercises independent judgment in recognizing and solving test related problems. Leads or performs technical job duties as specified in CAP Regulations. Acts as a resource to staff for resolution of more technically difficult problems with tests or equipment and assists with customer problems. Ensures remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Personnel Requirements for Tests of Moderate and High Complexity - Testing. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
What you will do:
Plans, provides and maintains a safe environment for patients, staff and families. Practices the principles of quality improvement, by incorporating FOCUS-PDCA principles into daily activities and by focusing on improvements and customer satisfaction. Performs quality control for all routine and special staining techniques. Answers questions and serves as a resource person for physicians and others regarding collection methods of cytologic specimens. Organizes and prioritizes workload to meet laboratory and CAP guidelines.
Qualifications
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Cytotechnology Bachelor's Degree Biology, Medical technologyone (1) year training in an accredited cytotechnology program
Licenses and Certifications: Clinical Lab Technologist Cytotechnology (ASCP)
Experience Qualifications:
Education Baccalaureate degree in biology, medical technology or closely related field with one (1) year of training in an accredited cytotechnology program/Baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology. Must meet and maintain the qualifications for personnel performing high complexity testing as outlined in CLIA 88 regulations. Experience One (1) year of experience in an accredited cytotechnology program.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates the knowledge and level of experience to perform technical procedures. Operates laboratory equipment appropriately. Prepares stains and maintains related records and files, ensuring that established policies, practices, procedures and standards are followed Organizes and prioritizes work, diagnose and report data.
