Description:
We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support daily financial operations for an education-focused organization in South Orange, New Jersey. This Contract position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a high volume of invoice-related work with accuracy and efficiency. The person in this role will help maintain timely payment processes, ensure proper documentation, and contribute to smooth accounts payable operations.
Responsibilities:
- Review incoming invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper approval before processing
- Assign appropriate accounting codes to invoices and enter payment information into the system with precision
- Manage the full invoice processing cycle from receipt through posting and payment preparation
- Prepare and support check runs to ensure vendors are paid in accordance with established schedules
- Resolve invoice discrepancies by coordinating with internal departments and external vendors as needed
- Maintain organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation for audit and reporting purposes Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting support role
- Working knowledge of invoice coding, payment processing, and check run procedures
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle data entry accurately
- Ability to manage multiple invoices and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with basic accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for vendor and internal coordination
