Development Director (Ground-Up Multifamily & Affordable Housing)New York, NYA growing real estate development platform is seeking a Development Director to help lead the acquisition, capitalization, development, and execution of a portfolio of mixed-income and affordable housing projects throughout New York State. This is an opportunity to join a lean, entrepreneurial team where you'll work directly with senior leadership and play a meaningful role in shaping projects from initial sourcing through stabilization and delivery.
Key Responsibilities: Identify, evaluate, and execute new multifamily and affordable housing development opportunities. Lead projects through the full development lifecycle, including acquisition, underwriting, capitalization, entitlements, design, financing, construction oversight, and disposition or stabilization. Build and maintain complex financial models and development pro formas. Coordinate with public agencies, lenders, equity partners, consultants, contractors, and community stakeholders. Support project financing efforts, including conventional, affordable, and public-private funding structures. Oversee project execution to ensure delivery on schedule and within budget.
Ideal Candidate: 6-11 years of real estate development experience in Affordable Housing, Multifamily, or mixed-income housing. Demonstrated cradle-to-grave development experience across ground-up residential projects. Strong financial modeling, underwriting, and capitalization capabilities. Candidates must be comfortable completing an underwriting case study to assess their technical ability to create and update models. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Affordable housing, LIHTC, tax-exempt bond, or public financing experience is highly desirable. Candidates with a strong market-rate multifamily development background will also be considered. An entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to take ownership of projects and drive decisions. Compensation$180,000 - $225,000 base + bonus + benefits. The opportunity to take part in LTIP/upside will also be an opportunity in time.
