As Payroll Specialist, you will process weekly payroll with multiple time capture systems, maintain SOX-compliant controls, and handle garnishments and quarterly payroll tax returns. You will support Finance and Accounting and back up front desk functions, operating on-site in a construction environment. You'll collaborate with HR to ensure data accuracy and serve as a trusted payroll resource for field personnel. Responsibilities:
- Data entry and verification of timecards with accurate proofing and issue resolution
- Learn and apply new payroll systems and methods in a construction setting
- Communicate with field personnel on missing hours or cost codes and obtain documentation
- Maintain and update master payroll data and digital timecard records
- Provide excellent employee/customer service regarding pay inquiries
- Coordinate with HR for cross-referencing information
- Assist with quarterly payroll tax filings
- Review deductions, benefits, and 401(k) accuracy
- Post payroll, equipment, job cost, and GL data weekly
- Set up and remit garnishments and child support payments
- Support the Payroll Supervisor and participate in special projects
- Provide backup coverage for front desk receptionist
Key requirements:
- Bilingual required
- Minimum 2 years of accounting or payroll experience
- Experience with Viewpoint, Oracle, ADP, Power BI, Excel, B2W, and Microsoft Teams preferred
- Experience with payroll system software
- Prevailing wage experience is a plus
- Knowledge of payroll taxes, SOX controls, and payroll compliance
