Location:
Princeton, NJ or Bethesda, MD area Level: Director or Senior Director, based on experience Employment type: Full-time, in-person (Hybrid)About One Well One Well is an SEC-registered investment adviser serving ultra-high-net-worth families, family offices, and mission-driven institutions, including endowments and foundations. We pair institutional-quality investment management across public and private markets with deep advisory support in planning, governance, and philanthropy. Our goal is to help clients build enduring financial strength in service of a greater purpose.
The role:
The Director, Wealth Planning & Strategy is One Well's Wealth Strategist responsible for supporting our ultra-high-net-worth and family office clients. You will build the analysis behind our most important client decisions, shape how those recommendations are communicated, and coordinate the CIO, the lead advisor, and the client's outside counsel so the plan gets implemented. This role is for a planner who has done the work in a multi-family office, private bank, trust company, or UHNW practice: someone who models liquidity across entities and trusts, drafts the recommendation memo, and runs the working session with estate and tax counsel.
What you will do:
Cash flow and liquidity modeling Build household and balance sheet models across individuals, trusts, partnerships, and family entities. Model liquidity needs and sources: spending, tax liabilities, private fund capital calls and distributions, debt service, and charitable commitments. Analyze liquidity events, including business sales, concentrated stock and equity compensation, real estate dispositions, and distribution schedules. Run scenario and stress analysis to set reserve levels, size distributions, and test the durability of the family's plan across generations. Translate model outputs into sizing recommendations for the investment team, including cash, liquidity sleeve, and private markets pacing. Recommendation and client messaging Turn complex analysis into a clear recommendation: the decision, the trade-offs, and the next steps. Prepare and curate client meeting materials, planning memos, and family presentations in partnership with the lead advisor. Tailor the message to the audience, from principals and next-generation family members to boards of family foundations. Contribute planning-led content to prospect meetings where analysis and coordination demonstrate One Well's value. Coordination with the CIO, advisor, and outside counsel Work with the Chief Investment Officer so asset allocation, liquidity, and private markets commitments reflect the plan. Partner with the lead advisor as the planning owner on each relationship, so the advisor can focus on judgment and the relationship. Coordinate trust and estate attorneys and tax advisors: frame the questions, prepare the analysis they need, track decisions, and drive implementation. Support estate and wealth transfer planning, including trust funding, gifting strategies, and entity structures, alongside outside counsel. Model charitable strategies, including donor-advised funds, private foundations, and charitable trusts, and their tax and cash flow effects. Process and platform Build reusable modeling templates and planning deliverables that hold up to UHNW scrutiny. Help define One Well's planning process for family office clients as the firm grows.
What we are looking for:
Required 7 to 15 years in wealth planning, with at least 4 years serving UHNW clients or family offices. Experience in a multi-family office, private bank, trust company, or UHNW-focused RIA.Advanced Excel modeling; you build cash flow and liquidity models from scratch rather than relying on planning software outputs. Working knowledge of trust and estate structures, wealth transfer techniques, and income and estate tax considerations. Direct experience coordinating with outside trust and estate counsel and CPAs on client matters. Strong written communication: you have drafted recommendation memos and client presentations for principals. PreferredCFP®, CPA, or JD; CFA or CPWA a plus. Experience with liquidity events, concentrated positions, or private markets commitment pacing. Experience with charitable planning vehicles and family philanthropy.
