Our client is a growing geothermal independent power producer with an expanding portfolio of geothermal projects across the U.S.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Geothermal Subsurface SME to provide technical leadership across subsurface investigation, resource characterization, and drilling activities. The company is open to candidates at the Director through VP level, depending on experience and depth of technical expertise. This role is best suited for someone with strong geothermal subsurface experience who can evaluate resource potential, guide investigation programs, and provide oversight of drill-hole planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead subsurface investigation and geothermal resource characterization. Interpret geological, geophysical, temperature, and well data. Support development of conceptual subsurface and resource models. Plan and oversee drill-hole programs, including siting, design, and field execution. Review drilling results and incorporate findings into resource assessments. Identify key subsurface risks and recommend additional investigation where needed. Manage and coordinate external drilling contractors, consultants, and technical specialists. Provide clear technical recommendations to internal stakeholders and senior leadership. Support technical diligence on prospective geothermal opportunities.
Qualifications:
Significant experience in geothermal geology, geoscience, reservoir characterization, or a related subsurface discipline. Deep experience with geothermal subsurface investigation and resource characterization. Demonstrated experience with drill-hole planning and oversight. Strong understanding of geological, geophysical, thermal, and well data used in geothermal resource evaluation. Experience working with a geothermal IPP, operator, developer, or technical consultancy. Ability to communicate complex subsurface findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Comfortable operating as a senior technical SME in a hands-on environment.
