Role Description:
The Payroll Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Carlsbad, CA, responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing for designated locations or business units. This role manages the end-to-end payroll cycle, including data collection, validation, processing, and distribution, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Manager handles garnishments, payroll taxes, and benefits-related payroll entries, and works closely with HR, Finance, and Operations to resolve discrepancies and support employee inquiries. Daily responsibilities include maintaining payroll records, improving payroll procedures, preparing reports and reconciliations, and supporting audits as needed. This role also contributes to process improvements, system upgrades, and training efforts to enhance payroll efficiency and employee experience.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in Payroll Administration and Payroll Management, including managing multi-location or multi-state payrolls. Knowledge and practical experience with Garnishments, ensuring accurate calculations, compliance, and timely remittance. Strong understanding of Payroll Taxes, including federal, state, and local requirements, reporting, and reconciliation. Familiarity with Employee Benefits as they relate to payroll, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off accruals. Proficiency with payroll systems and HRIS platforms, as well as Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis. Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner effectively with HR, Finance, and operations teams. Previous experience in hospitality, restaurant, or multi-unit retail environments is preferred. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Knowledge of wage and hour laws,
