Remote (But ideally in NJ or NY, as there will be some minimal onsite travel to the Jersey office, not any surrounding locations are fine as long as they can drive there once in a while)
Duration:
6 Months W / Extensions No. of Positions: 1 Develop recommendations for Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and alternative product-flow strategies. Evaluate implications of tariffs, duties, service requirements, inventory objectives, and cost within product distribution decisions. Define approaches for managing product-flow changes outside normal operating conditions and emergencies. Identify enabling systems and planning requirements, including ERP, transportation management, and planning capabilities needed to support the future-state distribution strategy. Develop a repeatable assessment methodology to evaluate product flows against the defined distribution framework. Facilitate cross-functional workshops and decision-making sessions with Supply Chain, Distribution, Manufacturing, Planning, Logistics, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders. Translate strategic recommendations into an actionable implementation roadmap and support deployment of the new framework. Key Deliverables The consultant will contribute to or lead development of: Product Distribution Strategy principles and framework Current-state product-flow assessment Product and flow segmentation methodology Hub/DC utilization and direct-ship decision criteria Replenishment and inventory-flow framework Transportation frequency and mode guidelines Business Continuity Planning frameworkNPI and network-change decision process Product distribution governance and RACISystems and technology requirements Recurring Product Distribution Strategy review process Implementation roadmap and change recommendations The intended outcome is an aligned, repeatable Product Distribution Strategy that enables improved decision-making across cost, service, inventory, and business continuity, while providing a structured mechanism for adapting the distribution model as products, demand, and the network evolve.
Required Qualifications:
12+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with significant experience in product distribution, logistics, or supply chain strategy. Strong experience within Med Tech, medical devices, life sciences, or another highly regulated industry; direct Med Tech experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience designing or optimizing multi-echelon product distribution models involving manufacturing sites, hubs, regional/local DCs, and customers. Strong knowledge of inventory deployment, replenishment, transportation strategy, distribution segmentation, and service-level management. Experience balancing service, inventory, cost, and resiliency/BCP tradeoffs. Experience supporting distribution strategies for complex product portfolios, including new product introductions. Working knowledge of ERP, TMS, supply planning, inventory planning, and related supply chain technologies. Strong analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated ability to facilitate senior-level, cross-functional workshops and drive alignment where multiple competing objectives exist. Ability to move effectively between strategic framework development and detailed operational design. Strong executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with surgical, electrophysiology (EP), neurovascular (NV), or other complex medical-device portfolios. Experience designing global or regional distribution strategies across the U.S., EMEA, and other international markets. Experience with distribution-network transformation, hub-and-spoke models, direct shipment strategies, or distribution-center optimization. Experience establishing formal governance and recurring processes for evaluating and modifying product distribution strategies. Consulting experience within a major management consulting firm or experience leading comparable internal strategy/transformation initiatives. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred. Consultant Profile This role is best suited for an experienced practitioner-strategist, not simply a theoretical network-modeling specialist. The successful consultant should have personally made or advised decisions regarding how products flow through complex Med Tech distribution networks and understand the operational consequences of those decisions across service, inventory, transportation, cost, systems, and continuity. The consultant must be comfortable working with senior executives while also engaging deeply enough with operational teams to ensure that the resulting framework is practical, implementable, and sustainable.
