Role Description:
The Security Systems Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Colorado Springs Area. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, and testing commercial security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related low-voltage infrastructure. Day-to-day work includes reading and interpreting plans, pulling and terminating cable, mounting and connecting devices, commissioning systems, and verifying performance against specifications. The technician will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, perform routine service and preventive maintenance, and document work performed in service and project records. This role collaborates closely with project managers and senior technicians, interacts with clients on-site in a professional manner, and follows safety, regulatory, and quality standards while working independently in the field.
Qualifications:
Experience with installation and configuration of access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems, preferably in commercial or institutional environments. Skills in low-voltage wiring, structured cabling, device mounting, terminations, and basic network connectivity for IP-based security systems. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation, and to use hand and power tools safely. Competence in system testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance, including identifying faults, replacing components, and verifying system performance. Strong customer service and communication skills for working with clients, contractors, and internal teams on active job sites. Organizational skills for documenting work, maintaining inventory of parts and tools, and following project schedules and procedures. High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade school, military electronics training, or related coursework is beneficial. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites across the Greater Colorado Springs Area; ability to work on ladders and lifts as required.
