Telecommunications Consultant SG7This position will directly support the enterprise network transport operations. Participates in the installation, configuration, and performance analysis of transport network technologies with a primary focus on operation and maintenance for transport networks to include; Fiber Optic Cable, DWDM, Ciena, Nokia, Ribbon, Icons, Microwave (Aviat), and P25 radio systems. Candidate should have a strong understanding of transport network and demonstrate the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, coordinate, and resolve complex issues and projects.
What You'll Do:
  • Support AEP Fiber Optic, Microwave and P.25 800 Mhz radio systems (Transport Systems).Shared 24x7x365 on-call with 6 other engineers
  • Break/Fix support of AEP Transport network systems
  • Remotely support project-based field change control work associated with deploying Fiber Optic, Microwave and P.25 radio systems
  • Follow the AEP change management process and AEP standard for changing any configuration in the network including peer reviews on field transport impacting changes
  • Documentation upkeep – Service
  • Now Asset, Monitoring Systems, Process Docs, Timekeeping, Goal Performance, Status Reporting, Change Control
  • Project Task and time scheduling management/meetings
What we're looking for:
  • Telecommunications Consultant SG7Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study
  • Or Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Or HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.
Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License is Required.
Other Requirements: Possess intermediate level knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles. Demonstrate competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity. Exhibit understanding for pertinent telecom equipment, materials, systems and business processes. Exhibit ability to understand interrelationships between systems and component equipment. Demonstrate ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes. Collaborate with others within the work group, department, or other corporate entity as necessary to complete routine activities. Provide cross-training to other employees as assigned. Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate the ability to extrapolate beyond known facts to reach logical conclusions. Compensation Range: $87,633.00 - $109,543.00 The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Occasional travel required.
