Data Coordinator To provide data coordination, data entry and statistical reporting services to the judiciary in the state of Louisiana. Serves as coordinator of a central statistical reporting unit for the judicial system performing a number of repetitive tasks essential for accurate record keeping and reporting. Work involves gathering, proofing and entering a large volume of data into a computer database with a consistently high degree of accuracy and speed within well-defined, established time constraints and generating associated statistical reports. Source data includes information on appeals and writs filed with the five Courts of Appeal and restraining and protective orders served statewide. Work is performed under the supervision of the LPOR Director or other assigned supervisor and performance is evaluated through direct observation, review of reports and other documents for accuracy and timeliness, as well as feedback from individuals served. Examples of Work:(A given position may or may not include all the duties listed. The examples provided do not cover all the duties which the incumbent of this position may be required to perform.)Receives statistical information on a daily basis from District, City and Juvenile Courts and the five Courts of Appeal, as well as legal and law enforcement organizations statewide. (Some information is only received monthly.)Reviews of all incoming statistical reports and other source documents for omissions, illegible handwriting and obvious errors. Keys in data and other information from source documents after appropriately coding them. Contact the initiating court office or organization to correct reporting errors. Updates computer records with new information (such as dates for oral argument or rehearing) or revised data as needed).Files hard copies of all source documents for easy access and reference when cross-checking and verifying additional information received from the courts. Answers questions from Clerk of Court's Offices regarding proper documentation of reporting elements. Audits, verifies and edits court records during the data entry process; notes extreme values and determines and records reason(s) for their occurrence. Compiles and produces monthly, quarterly and annual C.A.R.S. and other statistical reports for distribution. Updates and deletes records from the computer master files as needed for file clean up and upkeep. May supervise lower-level clerical or data entry personnel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the appellate criminal and civil case processing procedures and other legal/judicial processes.
Knowledge of business software including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Knowledge of math and statistics.
Knowledge of data entry functions such as keying in and verifying data from coded sheets and source documents.
Skill with numbers and detail oriented.
Skill in the use of computers to enter, save and retrieve information.
Skill in operating office equipment such as telephones, calculators, photocopiers and postage meters.
Ability to key in information from source documents rapidly and accurately.
Ability to understand, analyze and interpret statistical data collected and to correct errors and omissions when detected.
Ability to compile and proof data to ensure correct documentation and to identify error trends.
Ability to plan and organize work and to complete duties within established deadlines.
Ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and communicate diplomatically with court officials, coworkers and others in the course of performing job duties.
Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
Qualification Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED plus three or more years of office experience, including two years as a data entry operator in a high volume, high accuracy environment.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Some college level course work or special training in statistics and data management, or a related subject area, and prior work experience in an appellate court setting. EOE/M/F/V/D
