Inpatient Palliative Physician Assistant

Responsibilities: Provide holistic and supportive care for patients with advanced illnesses, primarily in oncology, neurology (stroke, dementia, etc.), pulmonary (COPD, respiratory failure, etc.), and gastrointestinal diseases. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team focused on improving quality of life and managing symptoms. You Can Expect8:00 – 5:00pm Monday - Friday6 – 10 patients per day, mix of new admits and follow-up patients2 Physicians and 4 APPsCollaborate with families, patients, social workers, and care teams across the system

Call: 1:4 one weekend a month and one weekday a week; calls are usually taken from home but may require occasional in-person visits Robust 2-3 month orientation process

Required Education: Masters Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant School. Required Certifications and Licensures: Current licensure by the State of Virginia as a Physician Assistant; ACLS (required only for LFM).

Experience: Minimum of two (2+) years of progressive experience in area of specialization.
