A national independent power producer is expanding its compliance function to support a rapidly growing fleet of utility‑scale solar and storage assets. The company develops and operates projects across multiple U.S. markets, with a multi‑gigawatt pipeline and an active buildout schedule. Their mission centers on delivering dependable clean energy while maintaining strong relationships with landowners, communities, and grid operators.
Role Purpose:
The Regulatory Compliance Manager will lead all compliance activities tied to federal, regional, and state energy regulations. This role ensures that operating assets meet requirements set by NERC, FERC, EIA, ISOs/RTOs, and transmission entities. The position spans program oversight, reporting, risk identification, and coordination with internal teams and external regulatory bodies.
This is a hands‑on role suited for someone who thrives in a fast‑moving environment, can manage multiple deadlines, and communicates clearly across technical and non‑technical groups.
Primary Responsibilities:
Regulatory Program LeadershipEstablish and maintain a structured compliance program covering all operating facilities
Manage regulatory filings and submissions across federal and regional agencies (NERC, FERC, EIA, ISOs/RTOs, transmission owners)
Direct external NERC consultants and oversee internal NERC/CIP compliance activities
Track regulatory changes and evolving market rules affecting solar and storage operations
Conduct internal audits, gap assessments, and compliance risk evaluations
Recommend corrective actions and process improvements
Cross‑Functional CoordinationPartner with development, engineering, operations, and asset management teams to ensure compliance from project onboarding through long‑term operations
Support creation and updates of compliance procedures, documentation, and internal controls
Regulatory Engagement & ReportingServe as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and market operators
Ensure all required reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule
Deliver compliance training to internal stakeholders
Qualifications:
Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in engineering, business, finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
Minimum 4-7 years of regulatory compliance experience within the energy sector
Background in solar operations, reporting, or market participation strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience with NERC compliance
Familiarity with EIA reporting and federal energy regulatory filings
Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Professional SkillsExcellent communication abilities across all organizational levels
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in dynamic environments
