Job Overview: We are seeking an energetic, results-driven Canvass Manager and Canvassers to lead, inspire, and grow our face-to-face field marketing and outreach team. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of our canvassing operations—from recruiting and training top talent to mapping territories, tracking daily performance metrics, and ensuring our team meets its strategic targets. Whether your background is in grassroots advocacy, non-profit fundraising, or direct-to-consumer sales, you must possess strong leadership skills, a metric-driven mindset, and the ability to motivate a field team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Recruitment: Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard a high-performing team of field canvassers. Maintain a consistent talent pipeline to account for team scaling. Training & Coaching: Conduct comprehensive classroom and field-based training sessions. Coach canvassers on proper messaging, script memorization, body language, and objection handling. Territory & Route Planning: Strategy, map, and deploy daily canvassing routes. Ensure compliance with local solicitation permits, zoning laws, and neighborhood restrictions. Performance Tracking: Establish daily, weekly, and monthly performance quotas (e.g., leads generated, signatures collected, or doors knocked). Monitor real-time data using field software. Data Management & Reporting: Ensure precise data entry from field applications into the central CRM system. Provide standard conversion, progress, and forecasting reports to leadership. Quality Assurance: Accompany the team in the field to guarantee high professional standards, brand integrity, and an exceptional public interaction experience.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in direct field sales, door-to-door canvassing, political organizing, or customer service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role. Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to motivate diverse teams and sway public opinion. Tech-Savviness: Proficiency with CRM systems, database tools, tracking apps, and standard software like Microsoft Excel. Logistics Requirements: Mobility: Ability to walk and stand outdoors for long periods in varying weather conditions alongside the field team.
Schedule: Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including late afternoons, evenings, and weekends when community residents are most accessible. Transportation: A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with a clean driving record are required for traveling between territories and transporting materials.
