We are seeking a senior-level Geophysicist Advisorto support integrated 2D/3D seismic interpretation, static reservoir modeling, and subsurface evaluations for major Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and Low Carbon Solutions (LCS / CCUS) initiatives. This role bridges advanced quantitative geophysics with multi-disciplinary subsurface modeling. You will deliver high-resolution seismic inversion, structural and stratigraphic frameworks, and static models to optimize field recovery, evaluate carbon storage integrity, and support annual reserves and storage certification.
Key Responsibilities: Quantitative Seismic Interpretation & Inversion: Execute pre-stack and post-stack seismic inversion, AVO analysis, and advanced seismic attribute workflows to map reservoir facies, depositional environments, and structural heterogeneity. Static Reservoir Modeling: Build, maintain, and update fine-scale 3D static reservoir models in Petrel, integrating geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and dynamic surveillance data. EOR & Low Carbon Characterization: Evaluate subsurface opportunities for secondary/tertiary recovery and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS); characterize storage capacity, containment seals, and plume dynamics. Acquisition & Processing Oversight: Technical interface with operational business units and service vendors to design, QA/QC, and execute 2D/3D surface seismic and borehole seismic (VSP/checkshot) programs. Integrated Subsurface Studies: Interpret regional potential fields data (gravity and magnetics) alongside complex structural geology across varied tectonic regimes, carbonates, and siliciclastics. Pattern Surveillance & Production Support: Collaborate with Operations and Reservoir Engineering teams on pattern optimization, fluid sweep monitoring, and bypassed pay identification. Regulatory Compliance & Reserves Certification: Lead technical evaluations for annual volume certifications, storage audits, abandonment/decommissioning risk assessments, and SSHE compliance. Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Provide peer reviews, mentor junior and intermediate geoscientists, and deliver presentation-grade technical documentation for executive stakeholders.
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Master’s or Ph. D. in Geophysics, Geology, or a related Geoscience discipline ( strictly required ).
Experience Level: 8+ years of progressive technical experience in quantitative geophysics, seismic interpretation, and reservoir characterization. Core Technical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in pre-stack/post-stack seismic inversion and AVO analysis. Strong working knowledge of carbonate systems, siliciclastic settings, and unconventional reservoirs. Solid structural geology acumen across diverse tectonic settings. Experience interpreting gravity and magnetic data sets. Software Platforms: Advanced hands-on competency inSLB Petrel(Geophysics and Reservoir Modeling) and standard geoscience computing toolsets. Regulatory & Decommissioning: Familiarity with SSHE subsurface hazard protocols, abandonment planning, and reserve/storage volume certification. Preferred Differentiators Cross-Disciplinary Literacy: Working knowledge of reservoir engineering drivers, dynamic surveillance KPIs, and material balance principles. CCUS / Energy Transition Exposure: Direct involvement in carbon storage containment evaluations, injection plume modeling, or EPA Class VI / regulatory permitting support. Working Style & Core Attributes Adaptability: High comfort level working in an agile environment with weekly shifting operational priorities and ambiguous technical parameters. Collaborative Mindset: Proven ability to build consensus and drive decisions across multi-disciplinary teams (drilling, operations, LCS, reservoir engineering).
