Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on television broadcast equipment, computers, networks, and facility systems. Maintain studios, control rooms, technical spaces, equipment rooms, and general facility infrastructure. Support cameras, audio/video systems, routers, servers, RF systems, control systems, and broadcast networks. Perform general facility repairs, installations, equipment moves, cabling, mounting, and modifications. Troubleshoot basic electrical, mechanical, HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and building-related issues. Identify problems and develop practical solutions, utilizing outside contractors when specialized expertise is required. Assist with construction projects, facility upgrades, equipment installations, and system expansions. Respond quickly to technical or facility issues that could impact broadcast operations. Coordinate with engineering, operations, building management, vendors, and contractors. Document equipment issues, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system anomalies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe technical and facility environment. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent experience preferred.5+ years of broadcast engineering, technical facilities, or equivalent hands-on experience required. Working knowledge of television broadcast equipment and production systems. Understanding of broadcast audio, video, control systems, networking, RF, and IT infrastructure. Strong understanding of electrical, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and building systems. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems and determine practical solutions. Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and other equipment necessary to perform repairs and installations. Strong general mechanical aptitude and a natural "figure it out and fix it" approach. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure, 24/7 news environment. Ability to work effectively with engineers, producers, operations personnel, vendors, contractors, and building management. Solutions-based, team player with strong communication skills. Must be willing to perform both broadcast engineering and general facility maintenance duties. Able to lift 50 lbs.
