Payroll Tax Operations Lead

ROLE REQUIREMENTS: You have 6+ years of experience in payroll tax operations and compliance, with 8+ years of total work experience at tech companies Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and procedures Ability to perform payroll tax reconciliation, filings, tax law research and more. Awesome communication skills to lead client calls to talk through payroll tax compliance Operational leadership skills to build and design processes from start to finish Strong ability to research and synthesize complex tax laws to the layperson Computer literacy (G-suite, Slack, Excel, Jira, etc)You thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy You have a process-oriented mindset and ability to drive consensus across cross-functional teams and drive projects to completion You enjoy interacting with internal and external stakeholders and can draw insights and takeaways from disparate conversationsNICE-TO-HAVECPP, CPA, Tax Preparer Credentials Prior management experience ABOUT THE ROLEZeal customers are enterprises (gig companies, staffing companies, etc.) who use a combination of APIs and white labeled components to build their dream workforce payment experiences. In your role you will serve as a go-to contact for our customers for everything from implementation, go-live, launching new products and more. This role will also report directly to the CEO at Zeal, where you will serve as their right-hand for all customer-related motions. SOME THINGS YOU MAY BE WORKING ONServe as the operational/compliance partner to our Tax Engineers, support team, and QA team to ensure payroll tax updates are researched and implemented in our system Build operational processes to improve payroll tax reconciliation, payroll system QA, etc. Manage and train tax operations associates and payroll support team members Lead our payroll tax filing and payment motion Communicate with tax agencies to resolve discrepancies in tax filing submissions Reconcile tax accounts Prepare and review tax reports and forms Answer client questions in regard to their tax filings Build and maintain internal tax operational processes for ZealZEAL CULTUREZeal is located in the Union Square district of San Francisco.
