Position Overview:
We're partnering with a mission-driven, membership-based organization seeking a Senior Program Director, Product Design to lead the strategy, design, and execution of consumer-facing digital experiences. This is a highly visible player-coach role for a hands-on Product Design leader who can operate across the full design lifecycle, from member journey strategy and Service Design through UX, design systems, high-fidelity UI, and product delivery. The successful candidate will help shape product direction, establish design standards, partner closely with Product and Engineering, and create experiences that drive meaningful engagement, retention, and impact for members. This is not a large people-management role. We're looking for someone who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on, mentoring a small team while remaining actively involved in the UI/UX design work.
Required Experience:
We're specifically seeking a Product Design leader who brings experience across all or most of the following areas: Product Design experience within membership-based, nonprofit, advocacy, social impact, community-focused, or mission-driven organizations Strong consumer-facing (B2C) product design experience Demonstrated Service Design expertise, including customer/member journey mapping, service blueprinting, and omnichannel experiences Experience growing, engaging, and retaining members, customers, subscribers, or communities through digital products Ability to own work from strategy and discovery through UX, design systems, hands-on high-fidelity UI design, implementation, and delivery. This role requires active design execution, not solely strategy, research, or design leadership Strong Figma expertise, including design systems, component libraries, and interaction patterns Deep understanding of user research, experimentation, analytics, and customer insights Experience building or evolving design standards, governance, and design systems Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a lean, fast-moving environment Experience thoughtfully incorporating AI tools into the design process to accelerate workflows, research, prototyping, and collaboration
What Success Looks Like:
Defining product and member experience strategy across multiple digital products Creating seamless member journeys across products, channels, and touchpoints Leading Service Design initiatives that connect digital and non-digital experiences Building and evolving scalable design systems and governance practices Creating and communicating high-fidelity designs in Figma Influencing product roadmaps and strategic decision-making Partnering with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and leadership teams Mentoring design resources while remaining actively involved in execution
