Apply for this role →Director of Finance & Accounting | CFO Succession Opportunity Charlotte, NC | Hybrid | Up to $175K Base + 15%+ BonusA Clear Path to CFOA growing project-based organization is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to join its leadership team and play a key role in the company’s continued growth. This is more than a Director-level opportunity — the successful candidate is expected to transition into the CFO role within approximately six months, creating a defined opportunity for significant career advancement. The CFO succession will also come with an increase in compensation and enhanced benefits, including full coverage of benefit costs for the employee and their family.
What You'll Do:
- Lead accounting and financial operations for a growing, project-based organization
- Oversee project accounting, WIP, job costing, and project profitability
- Own forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial planning
- Lead month-end close and preparation of accurate financial statements
- Analyze project and company performance, margins, and financial trends
- Partner closely with Project Managers and operational leadership
- Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, reporting, and financial systems
- Lead and develop the accounting team
- Provide strategic financial insight while remaining hands-on in the day-to-day operation
- Prepare to assume full CFO responsibilities as part of the planned succession
What We're Looking For:
- 10+ years of progressive Accounting & Finance experience
- Proven leadership experience within an accounting/finance function
- Strong background in project-based accounting, WIP, job costing, and profitability analysis
- Experience with forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, and full financial reporting
- Construction, EPC, renewable energy, infrastructure, or another project-based environment preferred
- Comfortable partnering with operational and project management teams
- Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable getting into the details
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Technology-savvy and able to quickly learn new accounting systems
- English/Spanish bilingual or multilingual skills are strongly preferred
- International or cross-cultural business experience is a plus

- Starting Base Salary: Up to $175,000
